言語で正解率が変わりそう

日本人は科学常識が世界に比べて無い( 科学常識このぐらいは――目安作り、文科省乗り出す via slash.jp)という話がある。

設問を見てすぐに、翻訳で意図がずれていそう、と思ったので原文を探してみた。実際には他にも設問があり、その中から 11個を使って上記記事のスコアを計算したそうだ。

どうだろう？ 3. や 9. なんかは英語と日本語ではずいぶんニュアンスが違うのではないだろうか。

あとは、日本で誤用されることの多い「放射能」 だけど、正直良くわからなくなってきた。手持ちの辞書には radioactivity = 放射能、放射性とあるのだが、 この英文での複数形での使われ方は単に性質とみるべきか、それとも「放射性物質」とか訳していいのだろうか。

なんて思いながらググったら下のような使い方がみつかった。やっぱり、後者でいいのかな？
